The Chairman of the Census Advisory Committee, Dr. John Jingu, said that preparations for the completion of the 2022 Census are well underway and have already reached 80% for the designated areas in line with the preparation of the equipment to be used in the exercise.
Speaking in Dar es Salaam as he met with representatives of the Private and Commercial Sectors ahead of the exercise, Dr. Jingu said that despite the preparations reaching 80%, the work of completing and achieving the exercise is 100% progressing in various parts of the country tirelessly.
"There are a number of measures we have already completed, last year we did the census tests, and we continue to make preparations, the areas have already been allocated and the equipment continues to be purchased and the work is generally well underway, we cannot rest until the last day of the exercise on August 23, 2022," he said.
"I know you will ask about the participation of the Private Sector and Traders in the country in this exercise, this census will certainly help them plan their market and the products they produce in different parts of the country, it will help them to know the population and the age to provide the services that are appropriate to those people", said Dr. Jingu.
Dr. Jingu said businesses and the private sector should work on the call of Mr. The President of the United Republic of Tanzania in completing the exercise by helping to put the Census Logo Advertising on a variety of products as the Government does to promote the exercise and mobilize the entire country through its various issues.
Speaking on behalf of the Private Sector, Vice-Chair of the Country's Private Sector Institute, Paul Makanza, said that through the Census, the private sector will benefit from the population and housing data and work on them appropriately, especially in the business sector based on the sector's relationship with the population.
"We the Private Sector are very grateful for the progress you have made so far towards the completion of the Population and Housing Census in the country, we support this process of obtaining population and housing data for the whole country," Makanza said.
