Polisi Tanzania is a football club in Moshi, Kilimanjaro Tanzania. The 2015/16 season they are playing in the Tanzanian First Division League. They previously played in the top level of Tanzanian professional football, the Tanzanian Premier League.

The club’s origins may be traced back to the 1910s, but its formal history began in 1935 when Dar es Salaam inhabitants, who were classified as Africans by the colonial authorities in Tanganyika, chose to organize a football club to participate in a league dominated by “non-African” football teams. Supposedly, the club’s given name is New Young. Later, it was supplanted by the name Dar es Salaam Young Africans SC, and subsequently, it was renamed Young Africans Sports Club.

After the organization’s formation in 1935, its members argued over the team’s poor performance and outcomes. In 1936, the club had an even worse and disappointing performance, prompting some of its members to join a new squad. Arabs who thought proper to sow discord among the club’s members and precipitate a split were the proponents of secession. Together with dissidents, they were successful in forming a club known as Queens F.C. (currently Simba). Since then, Young Africans and Simba have been fierce competitors. The teams constitute the most exciting derby in Sub-Saharan Africa, one of the top five most often discussed derbies in all of African football.

On May 27, the club’s members voted to enable private investments from other firms by modifying the club’s governing structure.
